System Settings Issue - lee0317 - 14th August 2016

I just ran it from a live DVD and noticed that when a person opens System Settings that the Look and Feel and Window Decorations sub menus will not open. Also noticed that when selecting an alternative menu it crashed.

Update: Oh well, never mind. I'm sticking with what I have on my machine. Doesn't seem like anyone is running this forum. Peace see ya. =-)

Hi Lee,

thanks for your interest and feedback!
I guess it was likely either a faulty burn or some gfx driver issue.
Either way, we hope that doesnt distract you to become interested again in Maui in the future.

Okay. I will redownload another and see what happens. Thanks for your reply. I've always enjoyed Netrunner. I'll give it another go.

Nope same issue. I preformed a torrent download instead of a direct download. Maybe it's my graphics card. I'm running Intel Pentium® Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz × 2 with 4 g's of memory. How do I check the gfx driver? If I can get it running right I would use it.

Can you post a screenshot of the system settings areas not working?

RE: System Settings Issue - fatal1ty - 15th August 2016

OK, I have installed and I don't have any problems with 'system settings' at all. Looks good!

RE: System Settings Issue - deck - 16th August 2016

Great, so it was only a live disc problem?

Looks like Fatal 1 ty has answered the question for me. Thanks all. I will install it.  =-)

Sorry to report; but the issue is happening on a full updated install. Sorry the pictures are blurry.

Desktop Theme window will not open correctly.

It's most obvious in  picture two what is happening (It's scrambled). As of now I cannot even click to open the "Desktop Appearance" window at all; and the System Settings window will freeze.

Don't know if this will help.
Worth a try.
kcmshell5 --list
  • kdesudo kcmshell5 kwindecoration
  • kdesudo kcmshell5 kcm_lookandfeel
OR
  • sudo apt install --reinstall systemsettings
and maybe reinstall kcmshell5 modules Big Grin
