no standby possible when vmware player is running - benit - 28th January 2017

When I have vmware player (latest version 12.5x) running with Windows 7 then I cannot switch into standby. The notebook is quiet for a second, but then it starts again.

It is very clumsy to have the need to first suspend the virtual machine and only then to be able to put maui into standby.

Please let me know what to do.

openSuse leap 42.2 does not have this problem, so I assume it is about Ubuntu or KDE somehow.

I somehow fear that vmware is stopping the standby somehow.
Cannot imagine another reason for it to fail.
Usually there should be a notification when an application is preventing standby. Is there something like that for you too?

If not can you take a look at
Code:
sudo dmesg
after it failed and post the output here that could help.
Please use code or quote tags for pasted contents here in the forum. Thanks

Thank you very much for trying to help me. The matter seems to be a bit more complicated as I suddenly was able to switch to standby with vmware running while another time it started again without vmware running. So I think it is better that I will observe the matter until I have something reproducible (hopefully).
