Remove Splash Screen (Plymouth) - Mark Spruce - 23rd August 2017

Hello

How do you remove the Splash screen that comes up after you select your option in the Grub Menu if you have one.  As when I select one and then a BLACK Box appears and then starts to boot.

I am a little ocd and it really annoys me.

You can see the Plymouth stuff under Start Up and Shut Down but the pics are all blank.

I have an Nvidia 1070 Graphics card

You can remove the splash boot option or remove plymouth if you don't like the splash.

Just do a search in Synaptic and uninstall everything to do with Plymouth. I did that and removed the items but made no difference. it just removes the settings under Start up Shutdown

Would there be anything in the grub files

After you select the boot option this is what it looks like with the blank space where the boot screen appears.

Any Ideas ???

Might be a problem of the grub theme itself. Though I am not really sure what you want to achieve. If you removed plymouth you need to upgrade the initramfs for it to be removed from the init system.
sudo update-initramfs -u should do.
