Firefox 57 - rocky7x - 23rd November 2017

Hi All,

I've installed the Firefox 57 from the builds section of the Plasmazilla PPA and it is fantastic. Really fast and all works well. A little downside can be that a lot of add-ons haven't been ported to the new technology, but for me, half of the ones I use are already ported and the other half were the ones fixing various stuff of Firefox that don't need fixing anymore, so I'm 100% fine with the migration. But the increase in pure speed and responsiveness is unbelievable - I have an Intel i7 Haswell CPU with integrated GPU and even with this CPU it is very visible. So if you can live without a few add-ons I really recommend it.

Firefox 57 Plasmazilla landed in releases btw. today.
Yeah the downside atm. is the non working ant video downloader which seems to require some extra software to be installed and that is only available for windows.
So youtube-dl for the rescue.

i had this troubling me for some time also - but found replacements for almost all extensions and tested before 57 was available.
Ant-video i don't really ever used - only know from it as it was installed along maui.

Just in case - maybe it helps someone to replace to:

save-to-read ~ pile
update scanner ~ web pages scanner
session manager ~ tab session manager
fire gestures ~ foxy gestures
Aio Sidebar ~ tab center redux - although not really the same

Zotero: works in 57 via connector
worldbrain: works in 57
https everywhere: works in 57
dictionary anywhere ~ panel view for google translate (although i'd like to use as little google services as possible - found no better one yet - but i use the "mark word and have a popup with the translation" feature a lot - one click solution)
ublock origin - works in 57

profile switcher - no replacement yet
cnri extension handler - no replacement yet
beyond australis - no replacement but its just a theme

Also for security measures (as im not an expert at all and simply use what "reads" good to me - i like prism-break.org as info source for all including browser extensions.
