So, I am trying to re-install the OS. But when I was booting the Maui disk,
I decided to run the check media option in the Maui options. It came back
with One error, though it did not say what it was. I checked the MD5 and it
was right on! Is it still safe to re-install using this disk?

Also, HOW do I get rid of all the random screen flickering??

I find that if I log out, and log back in, the amount of random flickering (i.e., widgets flickering) is reduced.

Should be save. The one file might be the md5sums file itself checking itself while writing (which of course has to result in a mismatch)
I think he means the check media from the live ISO boot options.
How did you write the live ISO to the media?
I also meant that.
