I have created a control bar on the left screen border with a consiberable width. It holds a web slice widget of an online todo service. Everything is fine except that I cannot create a new task: The typing is received by KRunner. How can I enter text into webslices?

That sounds like a bug. Have you tried focusing anything on this web mini widget and see if it solves the issue?
(It kind of reminds me reading something about focussing stuff fixed for plasma in some changelog some months ago but I might be wrong)
Everything else works just fine, all mouse selections, drop-downs or whatever. Text input field has focus, but I simply cannot type. The keystrokes are channeled somewhere else.
Then it is a bug. Take a look at bugs.kde.org if it is already reported. If not report it.
