[Solved]Installation on i7 intel - smoreau - 31st October 2016 I have a very strange behaviour of the installer on my tower. I used either a USB Key or a DVD. These isos have been tested on a laptop and lead to a standard display of Maui 2. When i used either of these isos on my tower the boot lead to the display of Maui 1 screen. Futhermore if you ask for the information on the system it mentions Maui 1 with the kernel of Maui 1 and the plasma version 5.7.2. Going further i checked for the installation and the installer was not Calamares but ubiquity. I stopped the process here. What do i do ? What will happen if i proceed to the installation ? Maui 1 ? Thanks for your help. RE: Installation on i7 intel - leszek - 31st October 2016 Indeed very strange. Can you check again if its really booting from the USB Key and if really Maui 2 is on it. Th USB key is named : maui-2-dvd-64bit-built-11e. I obtained the iso using the Suse tool on my MacBookPro running on a Maui 1 updated in line to Maui 2. And when I use this key on another old laptop it is clearly a Maui 2 screen and data. Will I try to install from a terminal with calamares ? RE: Installation on i7 intel - leszek - 31st October 2016 Calamares has no console line interface. I am really not sure whats going on here. Is there maybe some leftovers on the pc itself from maui 1 that could cause this issue? So probably I will try the installation from the key, and if neccesary I will update it on line I will inform you of my attemps. Thanks. RE: Installation on i7 intel - smoreau - 31st October 2016 So the progress : I decided to do a clean installation on this machine, and in order to solve the problem of the USB Key , I first use gparted on a live USB key. I completely cleaned the partitions. Then I used my USB Key with Maui 2, and this time I got Maui 2 !! So its a clear example, it is useful to clean the disk before using the installation DVD or USB. What remains, the same problem as here : https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread.php?tid=24061 Which is solved by updates of servers and installation of language packs. For the moment I have a querty keyboard (instead of azerty) at the login session. An idea how to solve this ? Thanks to all. SM RE: Installation on i7 intel - smoreau - 1st November 2016 The end of the story. Leszek, my tower has been used for the download of Maui 1 and the creation of the USB key, that is the only explanation I have for the strange behaviour on boot on this machine. Now as is running perfectly. The qwerty problem arise from a Logitech keyboard of the MK serie. The solution I found on forum is to add the line : setxkbmap fr at the end of the file usr/share/sddm/scripts/xsetup SM |
