[Solved] - Strange logout after 5.8.0 - rocky7x - 1st November 2016 Hi, After upgrade to 5.8.0 (and later 5.8.2 did not fix it) I'm experiencing a strange behavior during logout. Before with 5.7 after pressing logout the desktop darkened and the system logged out and presented the login screen. Now since 5.8.0 after pressing logout the screen gets stuck for a few seconds, then everything disappears (the screen goes completely black), then the whole desktop reappears again, but there are 2 stop signs in the systray signalling that 2 apps crashed (one of the is Bluetooth daemon) and a kwallet password prompt appears for something called kiod5. But before I manage to type in anything, the whole desktop disappears and the login screen is presented. I'm not saying that this is something preventing me from doing my work, I'm just trying to find out why the logout sequence doesn't seem to work correctly. Thanks for any helpful hints... RE: Strange logout after 5.8.0 - leszek - 2nd November 2016 Might be an issue with systemd or Dbus. If it worked on this Base of system before the plasma upgrade I think it's Dbus. Though I can't be sure here completely. RE: Strange logout after 5.8.0 - rocky7x - 2nd November 2016 I've done some testing. In my Maui 1 (completely updated to 5.8.2) and Maui 2 (fresh clear installation) virtualboxes, it doesn't happen. There the logout sequence is normal (though without the dimming animation, but it's normal, without the prompts and crashes). I've checked the kwallet manager and found that the only difference is that in my normal system, kiod5 application is connected to the wallet, whereas is VMs it is not. I've also checked the process list, in my normal system kiod5 is running, while is VMs it doesn't run. No idea why there is this difference, nor if it is causing the problem. But both Maui 1 VM and normal system are updated to the same package level. EDIT: OK tested it with a completely new user on my normal system - happens there as well, just without the kiod5 prompt. So it's not the problem of kiod5. Is there a way I can check it in some logs? If yes, which logs? RE: Strange logout after 5.8.0 - rocky7x - 2nd November 2016 OK, on my home laptop the crashes and kwallet prompt don't happen. So I've obviously broken something on my work laptop. Anyway, regarding the logout effect, I see in the 5.7 -> 5.8 changelog that it has been dropped (https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasma-5.7.5-5.8.0-changelog.php -> KWIN section: [effects] Drop the logout effect.) - that's a pitty since it was a really cool effect from my point of view. I'll mark this as solved, since it's definitely problem on my side. |
