[FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 14th December 2016 Hi. Just [re]discovered this GUI pgm, after a couple of years of forgetting about it. OMZ, it's really fabbo. Yes i know that a good CLI exponent would already be able to get a lot of this info in Konsole, but for GUI-preferrers like me, this is a really marvellous tool. FYI: sudo apt-get install hardinfo RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - AJSlye - 14th December 2016 There is also kinfocenter which should be installed by default. However, I do like the benchmarking built into hardinfo. I actually prefer I-Nex. http://i-nex.linux.pl/install/
RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 15th December 2016 Pls forgive the naivete or impoliteness of this question, but how can i know that PPA is trustworthy [now & into the future]? RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - AJSlye - 15th December 2016 It's maintained by the actual developers of the application. RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 15th December 2016 Aha, ok ta, well if you trust them then there's clearly no reason i should not do ditto. Will give it a try now! Thanks. RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 15th December 2016 Hmmm, oh dear; a bit anti-climactic: Code: Stable PPA:RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - AJSlye - 15th December 2016 That is strange, I will take a look in the morning. I run this on my Arch and Ubuntu boxes, I haven't tried it on Maui yet. RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 15th December 2016 Ah, it's probably ok, ignore my last post (i think]. Code: Z97-HD3:/home$ /usr/bin/i-nex.gambasUnrelated to trying I-Nex, ~45' ago i had changed my Tower's hostname, from moi-Z97-HD3 to just Z97-HD3. Even though i ran the hostname command after, it appears that i'll need to reboot before again trying I-Nex. RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - kdemeoz - 15th December 2016 Hmmm, nope, still won't run... after reboot, after removal & reinstallation ... same error. Now uninstalled it. It is not simply an incompatibility with Maui per se, as all these errors i mentioned occur in my "real" Maui, ie, on my Tower's SSD. Conversely, i tested it also in one of my Maui VMs, in which it ran just fine. Odd. RE: [FYI] - Hardinfo / System Profiler & Benchmark. - AJSlye - 15th December 2016 Looks like you found a bug, there seems to be a file or folder missing on your system that it is expecting. Could you create an issue (bug report) here: https://github.com/i-nex/I-Nex/issues |
