wifi not available during install - eggzenbeanz - 10th May 2017 When installing via the live usb I have no wifi network option, only ethernet. Both the live version & the installed OS don't give me the option to use wifi. My card does work as I've tried ubuntu mate, KDE neon, xubuntu all discover the wifi at live stage and during the install. How can I get my wifi to function during live and the install stage? thanks RE: wifi not available during install - leszek - 10th May 2017 Which wifi chip do you have ? I'm looking for alternatives for my brand new laptop, but after using Netrunner for over 5 years, I really want to continue with Maui. My wifi is: intel dualband wireless ac 7265 and is supported by Linux: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/wireless/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7265.html So what goes wrong here? And what can I do to get the live-cd to work and install the system? RE: wifi not available during install - leszek - 18th October 2017 But the live system in general is working only the wifi not correct? It is strange as the Intel AC 7265 should be supported. Can you check if the inxi -v4 command lists the card and also the driver it uses. It should be the iwlwifi as that supports that chip. Is there a wireless network device showing up in the network manager. RE: wifi not available during install - eggzenbeanz - 18th October 2017 WIFI Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 - This solved my problem from a fresh 17.03. Install the Ubuntu 16.04.2 HWE https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread.php?tid=24406&pid=42606#pid42606 Then I needed to re-install Maui last week with 17.06 and wifi worked out of the box RE: wifi not available during install - leszek - 18th October 2017 Thanks for the update. So it is important to have the newest kernel installed for the support. You first installed Ubuntu and then Maui? I would like to install from the live-usb. Wouldn't it destroy the installation of Ubuntu if I would do that first? RE: wifi not available during install - leszek - 18th October 2017 There is a thread about Ubuntu HWE and how to install it on Maui: https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread.php?tid=24285&highlight=HWE As Maui is based on Neon and this is based on Ubuntu we can just use the newer kernels Ubuntu provide. RE: wifi not available during install - MarkoF - 18th October 2017 Ok, I've noticed several errors during startup. Not sure if it connects to not having wifi. I added some photo's of the startup and quiting proces. Hop you can use it for adressing my wifi problem, but also for getting Maui better next version. Btw: Network-Manager doesn't show anything about the wifi. And this laptop doesn't have a possibility for a network cable...
