No bluetooth device - bettyboop - 19th February 2017

Hello everyone! I recently installed Maui 2.1 without any problem, everything works perfectly except
it does not recognize the bluetooth device. I have a HP Notebook with Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 bluetooth 3.0.
I have visited several forums and I have not found a solution.
Can anyone help me?
Sorry for my english and thank you very much!

RE: No bluetooth device - leszek - 19th February 2017

It should work out of the box with the ath3k driver. It is even in the ubuntu certified hardware database https://certification.ubuntu.com/catalog/component/usb/1709/0cf3%3A3005/

What is the actual problem when you click on bluetooth in systemsettings? Does it say no device?
Or is the adapter just turned off?
Is the device listed in lsusb? Or lspci?
Is the ath3k driver loaded? (lsmod command)

Thanks leszek for your quick reply ..

I enter bluetooth and it says: no adapters available
I have executed the commands and it returns this:

RE: No bluetooth device - leszek - 19th February 2017

Just a notice first. For future reference please use quote or code tags for pasted code as it helps with readibility and it avoids the anti spam module to kick in.

I see a Hewlett-Packard Atheros AR9285 Malbec Bluetooth Adapter in the lsusb output. Did you attach another Bluetooth USB dongle ? Or is this the one ?
Oh it seems like it is taking a look at lspci it seems that it is one of this shared cards wifi + bt (though one attached via pci express the other via usb)
Quote:Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter

The ath3k is also loaded as the lsmod command indicates. And it used for bluetooth. So everything is setup right from the driver perspective.

Can you check with the following command if the bluetooth service is running
Code:
systemctl status bluetooth
If it the Active: is not set to active (running) or Status: "Running" can you try to start this service with the command
Code:
systemctl start bluetooth
(It might ask for your password to do this)

After starting the bluetooth service try using your bluetooth via systemsettings again.
If this works and you want the bluetooth service to be enabled by default execute
Code:
systemctl enable bluetooth

I hope that solves the issue for you.

The bluetooth works, in another partition with debian goes perfect

RE: No bluetooth device - leszek - 19th February 2017

Do you have some special firmware-atheros package installed on that debian were it works ?
Can you also check if your user on Maui is in the bluetooth group ? (Aswell check on Debian please)
