Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - evb0110 - 6th January 2018 Unlike with other distributions using KDE Plasma 5 (e.g. Kubuntu and Linux Mint 18), when I increase the height of the panel, the apps icons (which I put there using "Add to panel (Widget)") remain the same size. Is it possible to make them become larger? Another problem is that very often, when I want to change something on the panel, it crashes and appears again only in several seconds. RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - leszek - 6th January 2018 Which version do you use of Plasmashell ? It seems to me the Icons are added as widgets. They should have the same height when you pin them in the taskbar. The first thing was fixed in a recent Plasma version. So, what should I do to be able to change their size? RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - leszek - 6th January 2018 You need to upgrade the plasma version. This means you need to activate maui-backports and maui-backports-neon for this to upgrade. See the homepage about part rolling site if you need more details. RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - evb0110 - 6th January 2018 leszek Now, after I enabled backports and installed 5.11-th Plasma, everything is much worse. After reboot I don't have any panel at all. My laptop is attached to an external display, its own lid being always closed. So, to get the panel back, I have to open the lid, activate the laptop's screen in settings and then deactivate it. But after reboot the problem returns! Is it possible to solve this problem? Now, the system has become unusable. And, by the way, icons on the panel don't get any bigger. UPD: Had to restore my system to the previous state. Now at least, I can use it. RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - leszek - 7th January 2018 That is strange. The icons should be fixed with the newer plasma versions. At least I cannot reproduce it here. As for the display issues with closed lid. This is a special corner case which seems to be a an issue with kscreen and Xorg. RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - evb0110 - 7th January 2018 Maybe the problem with icons remained, because it was an upgrade, not a fresh install? When I returned to Plasma 5.10, there is no 'corner issue'. Does that mean, that there will be no way for me to upgrade to 5.11? RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - leszek - 7th January 2018 For the icons issue it could be that the old configuration might have some hardcoded sizes in it. As for the 'corner case' you have to test out newer Plasma versions. As boot or launching of Plasma changed through the newer versions it might be a bug that needs fixing. But as I am not using this kind of setup it is hard to tell. Maybe you can find an open bug about this on bugs.kde.org to see if it is reported already. Also keep in mind testing with a clean config might help here aswell. RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - evb0110 - 7th January 2018 It seems, these bugs are well known. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356727 So, I'have to stick to 5.10 Cleaning configs is a bad choice for me... RE: Apps icons on the panel won't get bigger - rocky7x - 8th January 2018 Hi, I see the same issue, but I've been seeing it even before Plasma 5.11. The icons that I've added to the panel only as shortcuts resize correctly. But the apps that I've pinned to the taskbar as launchers don't resize at all. Cheers.. |
