Have whittled down the problem to Translucency setting.
When enabled, anywhere you click on ok or apply paints the window to the desktop. Shift+alt+F12 will turn off desktop effects and the desktop is cleared. Shift+alt+F12 to re-enable effects and all is ok until you have to click apply, ok again, and then same problem. So the simple remedy is disable translucency. Hoping someone will can come up with a more positive solution! Will be needed when the developers get around to making qtcurve compatible. Other than this small hiccup, a great distro !
