how to use second (photo) printer tray?

I have a HP Photosmart Premium C409 printer that has a (very useful) second tray for photo printing. This is also visible in the system settings,


   


but if I try to print a photo from Gwenview for example the tray is not used and also not offered as an option.

All I want to do is print some photos. Why is that such a challenge with Plasma? Here are all the options in the print dialog:

I think that this option can't be set for an individual print (or no one implemented this feature yet). So setting it globally in the systemsettings printer settings does not work for you?

You can try it also from the CUPS settings UI in the browser and see if it works.

If it does not it could be an issue with the driver itself not supporting that feature correctly.
