You can go into systemsettings -> removable devices and add stuff.
Though I would personaly if you like vlc try copying its kde4 solid actions which should work fine on plasma 5 aswell.
This will not bring you autoplay as this seems to be not supported but will popup the device notifier with the option to open up vlc and start playback with just one click.
