Recall a few short weeks ago when Neon released 5.8.0 & 5.8.1 many users ran into problems with activities and booting into Plasma. Would not it be better if Maui learned from Neon's mistakes? A one week delay to watch and test for problems is not too unreasonable.

Oh yes, i totally agree [& no i've not forgotten our recent pains]. My post was merely playful, tongue in cheek, & also a reaction to my pleasant surprise at how fast things are moving along with Plasma development. I continue to think the Maui Devs' idea to build in the testing delay is a brilliant compromise... 1 or 2 weeks after Neon is practically no delay at all, in the bigger scheme of things, with the nice tradeoff of more stability. We are sooooo much better off however than the poor users of Kubuntu 16.04 [still stuck on P 5.5.5, ugh] & Mint 18 KDE [stuck on P 5.6.5]. I remain so pleased to have discovered Maui.

Should we be receiving P5.8.3 soon pls?

There is a small delay as we need to resync stuff from the neon servers as you might've heard about the misconfigured neon server which allowed the world to write stuff to it.
So far the test with Plasma 5.8.3 went fine in our testing-neon repo. It should arrive later this day in the backports repo.

I have just now re-read https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread.php?tid=24012 & https://mauilinux.org/updating-maui-2-maui-backports/, but i'm still confused. In order to get the "Maui-Devs-tested-released" Neon updates, which is what i assume you mean comes from "the backports repo", is the row i've highlighted in my pic, one that i need to tick pls? If any user did not have that row ticked, would it mean they would not receive any further Plasma version updates until Maui 3 was released?

My Maui just received all the updates to 5.8.3. KInfoCentre confirms it's now 5.8.3, but could you pls comment on this list of errors that occurred at the end, particularly the final entry [I did the update using the Mint Updater / Update Manager]:
Code: E: libqt5core5a: 0.3268:package libqt5core5a:amd64 is already installed and configured |
