KDE Plasma 5.12 Build Soon?

Hey guys,

Any word on when a build for KDE Plasma 5.12 would be arriving? Looking forward to the bugfixes and speed improvements. - BTW, the bugs seem to be all NVidia driver related; the same bugs do not show on my Intel Video Driver for my laptop.

Anyways, I really appreciate all the work that you guys put into this distro; I'm really enjoying it.


At the moment I'm running my own startup so I don't have a lot of time, but I have a background in Linux sysadmin in high-performance computing environments (13 years) and have some good automation skills. I heard that Maui is being phased out in favour on focusing on Netrunner (good distro, but sad about that decision for Maui). Maybe there is a place that can instruct me how to help out maybe 2-3 hours a week?

I would really appreciate the help from Zubin to keep Maui Linux updated. After my personal tests with Netrunner´s flavours - Maui Linux is really my "most wanted" - I hope the Netrunner Team will give Zubin a chance

I'm new to Maui and I'm impressed, but what's going on with it. Neon had 5.12 days ago and we were stuck on 5.11.3 or something, not even 5.11.5 or 5.11.95. Is this because it's no longer being developed that the repo's aren't being updated either?

We prefer stability over freshness. So that means before we release anything to backports we test it thoroughly.

That makes sense then, I thought because it was built upon neon it would lean toward cutting/bleeding edge plasma on stable base principal.

I assume the backports will probably jump to 5.12 then for the same reason I did, for the touting of bug fixes and smoothness.  I found it already fixed a bug with my synaptic driver that showed up, it's also found in Netrunner 17.10, The bug is can't have horizontal and vertical two finger scroll on at same time or it gets glitchy, 5.12 fixes that.

If Maui will not receive any more updates, could you please provide a method for Maui to track Neon LTS.  Is the method of adding the repo that scutterflux listed above a safe way to do this.  I have concerns about mixing repos and breaking my system.

Yes it will land in backports as soon as we tested it.

Patience is key here.
You might have seen that Plasma 5.12.1 is out now. We will most probably switch to that as it fixes some key elements. But we first have to test that before we release it into backports.
