Getting rid of icons on desktop

When you install Maui you get three icons on your desktop, My Computer, Network and Readme. I tried to remove the latter two, but though the links no longer work,, the icons are still there. How can I get rid of them.

With other distros just deleting them works, but not it appears with Maui.

So removing them does nothing or they appear again after relogin?
Usually they are just files in the desktop folder and should be removable.

Problem solved. They had gone when I re-booted.

So a temporary refreshing issue.
There should be a manual refresh option in the contextmenu aswell.
