If I enable background transparency in Konsole for my current profile then the background changes in color slightly but doesn't actually become transparent. Doing so in Yakuake does work as expected. Interestingly, both terminals show a message that I've attached in a screenshot.

EDIT: fixed with the latest neon updates

I can confirm this behavior on all three of my Maui 1 machines. Have you thought a filing a bug if there isn't one filed already?

I have also lost transparency for all menus and pop-ups, as well as konsole + yakuake. Widgets and moving windows are still transparent.

This happened after an upgrade to Mesa 18.0.5, and the latest kernel.

System info:

I also get the same warning as atowler about needing to restart konsole, but to no effect.

Confirmed, the only machine which has been updated to mesa 18.05 lost transparency.
How to come back to 17.2.8 ?

I don't know of any (safe) way to go back to mesa 17, but it is possible to downgrade to mesa 11.2.0 in xenial repository, through apt or synaptic. The problem, of course, is which mesa packages to downgrade, which dependencies will be broken, and if the intel driver & kernel should be downgraded too.

Sorry but that did not worked for me after updating to Neon 5.13.2 as proposed by Leszek :

This seems to be link to intel video driver and not plasma versions.

I don't know where is the problem, but if you install Neon 5.13.2 directly from a usb key, transparency is back !!

Yes exactly on a separate partition of the same laptop (intel). So both system are active, Maui + Neon 5.13.2 no transparency, Neon alone lla is ok.
Huh

Ah, I see. Unfortunately, I can't afford to lose this system right now, I've set it up rather well and transparency is a minor annoyance. But I will try Neon 5.13.2 on a live session and see if it works.
