wifi not available during install

When installing via the live usb I have no wifi network option, only ethernet. Both the live version & the installed OS don't give me the option to use wifi.

My card does work as I've tried ubuntu mate, KDE neon, xubuntu all discover the wifi at live stage and during the install.

How can I get my wifi to function during live and the install stage?
