Yeah I would try installing the xserver-xorg-video-intel package. (I remember slightly that we removed that anyways as you have a newer intel processor which does not work flawlessly with the intel driver)
Though somehow it does seem to try loading the nouveau module for a card that isn't there anymore.
So please check again in the /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d folder. If you don't know zip it up and upload it so we can check.
@AjSlye: We discussed /etc/X11/xorg.conf before and debian/ubuntu uses /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d by default (there is no /etc/xorg.conf.d folder)
