Maui Linux needs to be MORE ACTIVE to capture the Linux Mint KDE Users

I hated it so much when they moved Netrunner to Debian base and we then had Maui, now that is being stopped. Not happy at all.

Still wish there was a Netrunner Kubuntu/ubuntu version

If you would like more Maui I recommend KDE neon, the project upon which Maui is based.  It builds the latest KDE software as oon as its released and is a KDE project so you can get help in all the same places as KDE apps would anyway without any separation between distributor and author.

But it has been stated over and over again that KDE Neon is NOT a distro.  As I understand it Neon doesn't give any attention to packages outside of KDE that might break things.  That is where Maui was so nice.  It was a distro that had all the goodness of KDE Neon plus outside packages and the support of a forum.  Everything just worked.  I'd love to use NEON LTS, but I fear it won't be as stable as Maui was.  I also fear the lack of an official NEON forum would leave me lost and looking for answers.

I just tried Neon user, its a lot of work to get the main apps we need. I observed that plasma versions are pushed without tests. Thus when using plasma 5.11.4, digikam (5.7) is no more able to display images files.

Does that mean that it is more secure to disable neon mirrors after installation to get a stable system ?

With Neon you have to do the testing yourself or use the LTS version. Neon is as it is stated on the web site, a system that enables users to test KDE's latest and greatest. So before upgrading, it's wise to do some testing of the functionality you use daily, in a Virtualbox copy of the same system. The Maui team does this testing for us, so with Neon you have to do it yourself.

That is exactly, I suspected, that is why Maui is always at the top. If we add to this, the quality of the forum, Maui is invaluable !

Yeah, out of all Plasma distros Maui is the most professional one, on par with other OSs for which you have to pay.. The only thing I had to do is install it and use it, which is exactly how it should be. With all others you have to invest time into installing needed apps, fixing stuff that maintainers missed or didn't care about, be careful about upgrades, play with repositories, learn stuff about Linux regular users shouldn't care about etc.

I see you've created a post in KDE Neon forums.. Neon doesn't really work that way, devs don't go much to the forums. If there is an issue, you should create a bug at bugs.kde.org and assign it to the neon section. I also didn't know this, created an issue via the forums, but ended up resolving it myself and got 0 replies. Then another member explained that for Neon issues, bugs should be created, while forums are only for discussion..

I do recognise that i'm flogging a dead, or at least otherwise motivated horse with the following, but anyway... both openSUSE & Manjaro have excellent fora [very vigorous, very helpful, very skilful members], & from personal experience, both distros are solid, with excellent P5 deployments. Anyway, just thought i'd mention it again...

...is not untrue. I'd be lying if i tried to spin it that oS & Manjaro have been "set & forget" for me; on the contrary i have definitely needed to be pretty energetically hands-on involved with them.

I fully agree with you, OS and Manjaro are very good distros with excellent forums and community communication, but also those distros are much more for enthusiasts and power users than for beginners and regular users.
